Sports World News NFL Mock Draft 8.0
2013 Review: The Raiders put together another subpar season even though they were in the thick of the playoff race through seven games. The Raiders then proceeded to implode and finish the season at 4-12. The coaching staff and front office are both back so this is the make or break season for the Raiders as they attempt to move past the Al Davis era.
Needs:
Quarterback: The Raiders traded for Matt Schaub, but are still interested in finding a long term solution at quarterback. The draft is littered with quarterback talent in the early goings as well as late round developmental guys. The Raiders have their choice of which path they would like to walk.
Safety: The Raiders owe their late season collapse due to their miserable pass defense down the stretch. The Raiders need to upgrade most of the secondary, but safety has been a liability in the late goings of the season. In a pass happy league like the NFL, the Raiders need players who can make stops in the pass game.
Middle Linebacker: Again the Raider defense wasn't very good in 2013, and could use a ton of upgrades in the draft. Middle linebacker is a position that has gotten no love in this draft and Oakland might be able to steal a late round talent due to how many teams do not think highly of the position.
Targets: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Best First Round Fit: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
The Raiders need quarterback help, but they might find a player worthy of the No. 5 pick in their eyes. Evans is a freak athlete that will make the Raider offense better and give Schaub a number one receiving target. The Raiders can find their quarterback of the future later.
