Sports World News Guide to March Madness Bracket Games

2013 Review: Like Manning and the Broncos, Tom Brady’s window is closing and its now or never for the golden age of quarterbacks. Brady played great with the worst cast of skill players he has ever had in his career. Players like Julian Edelman and Shane Vereen kept the Patriots above water and into the playoffs, but Brady is getting old and won’t be the elite player he is much longer. The Patriots are always the team to trade back and collect on the woes of other teams. This year is a prime year for Bill Belichick to give a QB needy team his pick.

Needs:
Nose Tackle
: Nose tackle was a need for the Patriots long before tho Vince Wilfork dilemma, but now its the teams biggest need. Moving forward past Wilfork will hurt on the field and in the locker room, but it can be done. The Patriots can take advantage of the NT prospects at 29 that will for in both value and scheme.

Wide Receiver: The receiver situation in New England was hard to watch in 2013. Julian Edelman emerged as the top target, but after that there is nothing. Danny Amendola was a huge disappointment and couldn't stay healthy while Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson were inconsistent and mediocre. Even with Brandon LaFell, upgrades can be found.

Tight End: Rob Gronkowski can’t shake the injury bug and the hole that Aaron Hernandez left was never really filled. The Patriots could draft a jack-of-all-trades player like Hernandez early and give themselves some insurance in Gronk can’t shake his injury woes going forward.

Patriots Vince Wilfork Asks for Release?

Targets: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota

Best First Round Fit: Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Nix would be the best move for the Patriots at No. 29 other than trading back to a QB needy team. Nix is a long-term replacement for Wilfork and brings the same skill sets to the table. A large body that can eat up multiple holes and physically dominates in the trenches. Nix has the weight to handle double teams as well as open up the lanes for his linebackers. Disruption is his game and the Patriots could use it.
