Minnesota Vikings Draft Rumors: Blake Bortles Perfect for Minnesota, Makes Them Instant Playoff Contender? [VIDEO]

Here at Sports World News we will count down each NFL teams’ 2014 draft needs and perfect fits. At the end of every team we will make a pick on who the team could take at their position.

Sports World News NFL Mock Draft 7.0

2013 Review: The Vikings fired Leslie Frazier after a 5-10-1 record and he was made into a scapegoat for a situation no one could have won with. When your quarterback situation is Matt Cassel, Christian Ponder and Josh Freeman you are going to have a rough time winning football games. A new coach, direction and quarterback could be just what the doctor ordered in Minnesota, but the future has to start in the draft.

Needs:
Quarterback:
The Vikings almost have to come away with a starting quarterback in this draft. Blake Bortles should be the top signal caller on their board as he fits what the Vikings are trying to do the best. Add in Adrian Peterson and Bortles will have enough support to grow and thrive in an offense on the verge of breaking out.

Defensive End: Losing Jared Allen hurts the Vikings more than they care to admit and Everson Griffen wasn’t worth the money he received. The Vikings need to find a second starter and then find depth on the defensive line. Look for them to draft more than one defensive lineman in the middle rounds after they pick a quarterback.

Safety: When Harrison Smith plays the Vikings are a totally different defense, but he missed a bunch of time in 2013 with injury. The Vikings should seriously look into finding a player to play alongside Smith that can also replace him if he gets injured again.

Targets: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
Anthony Barr, DE/OLB, UCLA
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

Best First Round Fit: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
the Vikings need a quarterback and Bortles could use some coaching before getting thrown into the fire. This match looks like one that is perfect for both sides on paper, but what will we say of Bortles when we look back in five years. Bortles compares to Ben Roethlisberger and if he can become even half the player he is the Vikings are in good shape going forward.
