Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Cincinnati Bengals (0-0) will begin their defense of their AFC North title in Baltimore against the Ravens (0-0) in a divisional clash that can be seen on CBS or live streamed by clicking this link. Bengals fans can hear the radio broadcast on WLW 700, while Ravens fans may do the same on 1090 WBAL.
The Bengals haven't forgotten their meltdown in the 2013 postseason, the third straight season in which they were bounced from the playoffs without a single win.
"We have to win one in the playoffs," owner Mike Brown said. "It sticks in our craw. First, we have to get the opportunity again.
"That is a long, hard road. We have a tough schedule, we respect our opponents, we take nothing for granted. But in our hearts -- in my heart, too -- I think we stack up OK and we are anxious to prove we are going to be a successful team again."
There is a tremendous amount of pressure on quarterback Andy Dalton, who signed a new contract this offseason, and he is being thrown into the fire against the pass-rushing defensive powerhouse like the Ravens.
"It's big. The way the schedule is, they start us off right off the bat with a division opponent. So it does set the tone. It really shows the expectations of what we have here."
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth is also excited to face the ravens in Week 1, viewing it as an opportunity to set the season on the correct path.
"It's a great opportunity for us to have another growing step," Whitworth said. "We've talked about it over the years. We've had this little step here or that little step there where this team's continued to improve. But we haven't won in Baltimore."
