The English lost a Twenty20 international on Tuesday, but new captain Alistair Cook is aiming for his side to shrug it off and keep their eyes on a summer of success. "Any time you win is good. But credit to Sri Lanka - they played very well, and we couldn't quite get over the line," Cook said of a close loss earlier this week.
"At the crucial moments, we didn't quite get our skills right - whether it was with the ball, bat or fielding. For 85, probably 90 percent of that game, we played really well. Maybe (it's) the habit of not winning many games of cricket recently."
The Sri Lankans took down the English by just nine runs, so it wasn't a blow out that they should be embarrassed by. Cook acknowledged that even though his squad performed well, it isn't always enough to walk off the oval with a win.
"No one has a divine right to win any game of cricket. You have to earn that right. Sri Lanka are an incredibly dangerous side with some talented players. We are desperate for a good performance."
