Bayern enters the match as the favorite, having won five games in the group stage with a goal differential of plus-12. Arsenal is coming into the game with some confidence, but as defending champs Bayern captain Philipp Lahm said "We won't be playing for a goalless draw. Obviously, we want to win in London.
"Bearing in mind our last result there, we can travel with a lot of confidence. "We can't wait to get back in (Champions League) action."
Still, after a rousing win their last time out, Lahm said Arsenal will play with vigor. "It's not going to be easy," he said. "Their confidence will be soaring after they beat Liverpool at the weekend."
Last season Arsenal was dropped 3-1 by Bayern in a crushing defeat, but this time around coach Arsene Wenger thinks their mindset is different. "We are in much better mental shape today than we were one year ago," Wenger said.
"We lost against Blackburn at home in the FA Cup and it was a big disappointment for us. This time we won against Liverpool. We have a strong team spirit, a strong desire to do well and a united team. I believe we had always these kind of qualities but we had not always the belief. The belief is built by the results.
"On that front we are stronger, of course. We believe we can do it, but that's down to the quality of our performance tomorrow."
With four wins, two losses and no draws Arsenal is far from a pushover, but the numbers seem to stack the deck in Bayern's favor. They will need all of their confidence to overcome the champs.
