Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the New York Yankees will officially introduce their marquee free agent signing, Masahiro Tanaka, in a live press conference that can be live streamed here. Tanaka is the prize catch in a busy Yankees offseason, in which they offset the loss of superstar second baseman Robinson Cano by signing Brian McCann, Jacoby Ellsbury, and now the ace of the Rakuten Golden Eagles staff last year.
Tanaka signed a seven-year, $155 million contract this offseason, and dropped $195,000 on a private jet ride for himself, some family members and his dog from Tokyo to New York. He was 24-0 last season with a 1.27 ERA and 183 strikeouts, numbers that exceeded those of previously ballyhooed Japanese import Yu Darvish, now the ace of the Texas Rangers.
