Tim Lincecum is almost on his way back to baseball and there are three teams still in on the right-hander.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner put on a showcase in Arizona last Friday, but a week later, he still hasn't found a home. The mystery surrounding where Lincecum may land is starting to clear up.
His former team the Giants remain in on him, while the White Sox and Angels are two other possibilities, according to Fox Sports. The Marlins, Padres and Mariners all had interest, but do not intend to pursue him, according to the report.
Lincecum, 31, has spent his entire career with San Francisco, where he won three World Series titles along with the NL Cy Young Award in 2008 and 2009. He also was a four-time All-Star during his time with the Giants, who selected him 10th overall in the 2006 MLB Draft.
After being one of the premiere pitchers in the game through the first few years of his career, Lincecum went 39-42 with a 4.68 ERA from 2012-15.
A reunion with the Giants may be his least likely option of the three since the club only wants to use him in a long-relief role and he wants to start, according to MLB.com.
San Francisco attempted to shore up its rotation this offseason by adding Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija to a group that includes ace Madison Bumgarner, Jake Peavy and Matt Cain.
The Giants (19-18 entering Friday), who have won a World Series in the last three even-numbered years, will be duking it out with the Dodgers (18-17) for first place in the NL West all season long.
An intriguing option for Lincecum is the surprising White Sox, who are atop the AL Central with an AL-best 23-12 record.
Chicago's rotation is very top-heavy with Chris Sale and Jose Quintana both off to terrific starts. Carlos Rodon (4.99 ERA) and Miguel Gonzalez (4.91) have struggled, so there is a possibility of the White Sox bringing in Lincecum.
Mat Latos has a solid 3.40 ERA thus far this season and the White Sox rank fifth in the MLB with a 3.19 team ERA.
The Angels are desperate for pitching help after losing Garrett Richards for the season with a torn elbow ligament. Andrew Heaney (flexor strain) and C.J. Wilson (shoulder) are also on the disabled list. Though signing with Los Angeles would keep Lincecum in California, they aren't the sexy option as they currently sit in last place in the AL West with a 13-21 record.
Lincecum is 108-83 with a 3.61 ERA in 269 games (261 starts) in his MLB career.
