Adrian Peterson Update: 3 Things You Shouldn't Eat Before Games Following AP's Shrimp Incident [VIDEO]

Adrian Peterson's kryptonite is seafood, and it almost cost him the ability to play in last Sunday's game.

The Vikings running back was downgraded to questionable for Minnesota's Week 7 game in Detroit after he vomited and fell ill, and it turns out the cause of the problem was shrimp. The stomach issues were originally attributed to Peterson swallowing dip due to a rough landing on the team's flight, but he ended up revealing that his seafood allergy acted up after he ate shrimp.

"That situation was just so simple, and I really just wasn't feeling well, but they had to report it, and coach Norv Turner made a joke, and it just took off, about the dip," Peterson said, via ESPN, clarifying what ailed him.

Peterson's seafood allergy was discovered in 2012, but he said he's eaten shrimp "my whole life," so it was surprising to him that his stomach reacted that way. Though he was questionable, Peterson ended up playing in the game, a 28-19 victory by the Vikings, and rushing for 98 yards on 19 carries.

Peterson said he'll be "a little more cautious of what I eat," especially when the team visits Chicago for Sunday's meeting with the Bears.

In light of the running back's stomach woes, here's a look at three things one shouldn't consume prior to game day.

1) Hardboiled Eggs

Don't be like Mickey Lee from "The Replacements." Eating 16 hardboiled eggs before a game is a huge mistake, even if, like Lee claimed, you need the bulk. The error was bigger than the mass of the sumo wrestler-turned-football player in the movie. Don't believe us? Lee vomits uncontrollably upon taking the field after the pre-game snack.

2) Whatever Willie Beamen Ate

Things didn't go well for the Sharks' quarterback, portrayed by Jamie Foxx, in the movie "Any Given Sunday." The unknown signal caller, who was drafted in the seventh round, is thrust into the game after the top two quarterbacks go down. Upon arrival, Beamen immediately throws up and looks to be a nervous mess the rest of the game.

3) Anything Overseas

As T.J. Yeldon proved Sunday, anything can happen when the NFL travels across the pond. The Jaguars running back came down with something prior to the team's game against the Bills at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday and feared he'd miss the contest after throwing up several times, according to AL.com. Yeldon believed he had food poisoning, but wasn't positive about what ailed him. The Bills probably wish he did miss the game as he ended up rushing for 115 yards on 20 carries and reached the end zone for the first time in his career on a 28-yard run. Jacksonville went on to defeat Buffalo 34-31.
