Adrian Peterson Endorsements: Michael Jordan Comparison More Apt After AP Signs New Shoe Deal [VIDEO]

Adrian Peterson recently compared himself to Michael Jordan, and he might be right - because he just signed a shoe contract. Peterson, who, ironically, was dropped by Nike in the wake of his child abuse scandal, has been picked up for a new endorsement deal by Adidas.

It's not really a big deal, to be honest with you. I'm with Adidas now, and that's well. But mostly, I'm focusing on football and handling business. Everything else will work out," Peterson said. Of course, when Peterson compared himself to Jordan, he likely meant it to mean he's the best player in the NFL.

The comment came in response to Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles having likened himself to LeBron James, because of his versatility.

"I'll say I'm the Michael Jordan and we'll leave it at that. Because it's always a debate, will LeBron be better than Michael? So I'll say I'm the Michael Jordan of football," Peterson said.

How To Handle The NFL's Three Most Confusing RB Committees

The problem is that when Jordan was winning six titles with the Bulls - for the record, Peterson has none - debate about whether he was the NBA's best player was non-existent. In Peterson's case, it's not clear if he's even the best running back. Le'Veon Bell of the Steelers has a strong claim, and Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall publicly stumped for teammate Chris Ivory this week. All of these rushers have strong cases in 2015.

The numbers aren't available for his new Adidas deal, but Peterson is light years away from touching Jordan in that realm. Peterson lost $4 million in endorsements last year when his sponsors fled him during his legal troubles. Meanwhile, Jordan hasn't played basketball since 2003, and still has one of the top sports apparel brands in the world.
