A lake house in Texas belonging to Paul Manziel, the father of Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, was burned down Tuesday night and authorities suspect foul play. KYTX reported the fire was “suspicious in nature,” The Whitehouse Fire Department responded to the fire at 1:30 a.m. according to reports.

So who would do this to the Manziel family? Here are some admittedly “out-there” theories.
Maybe The Browns Should Trade Johnny Manziel
Josh McCown
The Browns can talk up McCown’s performances all they want. Sure he hasn’t been bad – 746 yards, four touchdowns one interception – but the Browns are 0-3 when he starts, and 1-0 with Johnny Football. Cleveland is now 1-3, and even if McCown is outplaying Manziel, there will be pressure to play the youngster if only to determine whether or not he has a future in the Dawg Pound.
McCown, a career backup, has to know this and may have taken pre-emptive action to keep Manziel’s mind occupied anywhere but on football. A devious plot, and probably too obvious to be the case.
Could McCown And Manziel Eventually Split Snaps?
Teddy Bridgewater
Bridgewater, the quarterback of the Vikings, has been the most successful of the quarterbacks drafted in 2014. He went third among QBs, 29 picks after Blake Bortles (Jaguars) and 10 picks after Manziel. Perhaps success isn’t enough for Teddy. Maybe he still can’t live with the fact that Manziel, the money-sign making, Heisman Trophy winning braggart from Texas A&M keeps generating more attention than him.
This would be very sinister, and logistically challenging. The Vikings played in Denver on Sunday, but they do have a Week 5 bye. Bridgewater could have easily boarded a flight to Texas under an assumed identity, and lived some arson fantasy. He wears gloves when he plays, so if there are no fingerprints anywhere, keep your antennas pointed toward Minnesota.
Mike Pettine
Head coach Mike Pettine can’t be fond of Manziel. If he was he’d make him the starter. Pettine might be the only coach in history to play a low-end veteran with no hope of being a franchise quarterback, who is winless as the team’s starter, over a popular first-round pick who exceeded expectations in his only start and led the team to their only win. Unless McCown has some lewd photos of Pettine, a personal vendetta may be the only plausible explanation for why Manziel continues to sit.
This fire may be a message to Manziel from Pettine—stop showing up McCown!
