Aaron Hernandez, the ex-New England Patriots star tight end who stands accused of orchestrating the murder of Odin Lloyd, and pulling the trigger in his shooting death, may face testimony against him from his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins. Follow the Day 8 of the court proceedings free here.
The proceedings are to resume today in Massachusetts and some explosive video may be on display. According to reports, Judge Susan E. Garsh has denied the defense’s request to have video of Hernandez destroying his cell phone thrown out.
The video also shows Hernandez using another cell phone to call an accomplice shortly after Lloyd had been killed.
Another piece of evidence that was brought up during Day 7 of the trial was a .22 caliber pistol found at the site of Lloyd’s murder. Per Sports Illustrated, the gun may be linked to a prosecution witness named Oscar Hernandez, who is not related to Aaron. If so, he could implicate the former football star.
Second, there is a chance that Aaron Hernandez’s DNA is on the weapon. While that gun is not the murder weapon, a gun with Aaron Hernandez’s DNA on it, found where Odin Lloyd was slain, would be damning evidence of guilt.
There was also testimony regarding police’s first encounters with Hernandez following Lloyd’s death. Hernandez willingly answered many questions, but an officer reported that he “became agitated” during the process.
