Tom Coughlin To Return as New York Giants Coach? Probability Almost 100 Percent? [VIDEO]

Tom Coughlin is one loss away from tying his worst record during his 11-year tenure as coach of the New York Giants.

But that's as good as gold, according to the New York Post.

The Post quoted a source close to the Giants that said there is a "99.9 percent chance he's back."

The Giants have won two games in a row to improve their record to 5-9 on the season. They need to win one more to match their 6-10 record in 2004, Coughlin's first with the organization.

Coughlin refused to speculate about his job security Monday, a day after the Giants' 24-13 victory over the Washington Redskins.

''You always want to be on a positive note,'' Coughlin said, according to FoxSports.com. ''You would like everything to be with the arrow going up. We have talked an awful lot about improvement and ascending and it is the time of the year to do those things.

''The number of young people that are getting opportunities and having a chance to play, that all leads to thoughts about the future.''

He said he has not spoken with Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch about his future.

''My concern is with our team getting ready to play the St. Louis Rams, and I am sure that will be dealt with at the right time,'' Coughlin said.

Coughlin guided the Giants to Super Bowl victories during the 2007 and 2011 seasons. But the team has not made the playoffs since its second championship with Coughlin.

The Giants have gotten worse in each of the last three seasons, from 9-7 in 2012 to 7-9 last year to 5-9 this year.

The Post cited a source earlier this season speculating that Coughlin's prospects for a return to the Giants in 2015 were "50-50." The Post itself speculated that the Giants signs of not quitting on Coughlin have been important to his chances of returning.

FoxSports.com talked about the development of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., under Coughlin and the Post noted that the Giants have been decimated by injury in 2014.

Neither Mara nor Tisch would comment to the Post, but the Giants have to prove they can contend with the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles next season. Coughlin's return would keep the franchise from starting over.

But has his voice grown stale?
