Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET the New York Knicks (4-11) will head to Dallas to take on Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks (10-5) in a matchup that will be televised on ESPN and can be found online by clicking this link. Knicks fans can hear the radio broadcast on 98.7 ESPN New York, while Mavericks fans may do likewise on 103.3 ESPN.
The Knicks will be without star forward Carmelo Anthony tonight, as he's slated to miss the remainder of New York's road trip with back spasms. "Back spasms are really tough to deal with," Knicks coach Derek Fisher said, before declining to offer a timetable for Anthony's return. "He felt very uncomfortable, and we have to see."
The Knicks are catching the Mavericks on a bit of a low tonight. They are losers of their last two and going through a bit of an offensive funk. They scored just 92 points vs. the Houston Rockets last week, then scored 100 on Monday but gave up 111 to the Portland Trailblazers.
"You can't always try to outscore the other team every single night," center Tyson Chandler said. "Some nights, you're going to rely on your defense."
Chandler will be facing the Knicks for the first time since leaving them this offseason. He spent the past three seasons with the Knicks after winning his only title in 2011, averaging 10 points, 10 rebounds and 1.4 blocks a game over those three years.
This season Chandler is right on target for the Mavs, averaging 10.3 points and rebounds along with 1.4 blocks. He's doing things more efficiently however, posting a PER of 22.4 so far, the highest mark of his career.
