Tonight at 10:10 p.m. ET the Los Angeles Dodgers (45-36) and St. Louis Cardinals (43-37) will continue their four-game set with an exciting pitching matchup between Hyun-jin Ryu (9-3, 3.06 ERA) of the Dodgers and Carlos Martinez (1-3, 4.33 ERA) of the Cards. While Ryu has pitched like an ace this season, he does wish to improve one aspect of his game-his stamina. "I would like to go deeper in the game but toward the end, I felt a little bit extra more fatigue," Ryu said. He has been lifted from his last five starts after six innings of work. He, Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke has combined to pitch like the best rotation in baseball, and kept the Dodgers chugging along as their lineup has been dotted with various injuries throughout the season.

Ryu's opponent, Carlos Martinez, entered the year as a hotshot reliever that's now being called on to do big things for St. Louis' rotation. "He's a tough kid mentally, so you put him in a big position -- I think we saw this last fall -- he's not going to scare, he's not going to rattle," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "We just need him to stay the course, trust his stuff."

Martinez is just one of several young arms that St. Louis has to offer from a staff that lacks the name value in L.A.'s rotation, but possesses much of the raw stuff.

"They're a tough club. Their team plays good baseball, and they have good players," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "The main thing is pitching, they seem to continually bring up good pitching. Power arms. One piece leaves, and they bring another up, and he fits right in. Obviously, they're doing something right."
