Dez Bryant Contract Extension [VIDEO]: Cowboys Top Target 'Deserves' Long Term Deal, Wants To Be Among Highest Paid Receivers

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant wants the team to show him the money, and he said he believes he's worth being among the highest paid wide receivers in the NFL. Bryant said he hopes to iron out a high-paying long-term deal before the season starts.

"Yeah, I deserve it," Bryant told ESPN about a long-term deal. "I deserve it. I feel like I do. I put the work in, but I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback."

Bryant, 25, is slated to enter the final season of his rookie contract where he will make $1.78 million in salary and a $25,000 workout bonus this year, but he told ESPN Dallas that his agent, Eugene Parker, was in preliminary engagements with the team on an extension.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn't publicly discussed the negotiations, but he has always stood firm with his belief that Bryant is a huge part of the team's future.

Since the beginning of the 2012 season, Bryant leads the NFL with 25 touchdown catches and ranks sixth with 2,615 receiving yards and seventh in receptions with 185.

Bryant is hopeful to be a franchise player for the Cowboys and the team has the option of using the franchise tag on him in each of the next two seasons. Bryant also didn't dismiss giving Dallas a hometown discount to remain with the team, though he does want to make a lot of money.

I'm loyal to the squad," Bryant said, according to ESPN. "I've always been. Me and my agent are going to talk about [a hometown discount]. We'll talk about it. You know, this is big. This is life-changing. Like I said, I've done everything asked of me, and we'll see what happens."

Bryant played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season, and had 93 receptions for 1,233 yards while reaching the end zone 13 times. In 59 career-games with Dallas, Bryant has 293 catches for 4,104 yards with 40 scores.
