Looks like it's almost time for Johnny Manziel to tell reporters to hit him over the head if he ever contracts "Jameis Winston" disease.
Three weeks before Winston told reporter that they could smack him over the head with their microphones if he ever got "Johnny Manziel disease," he was stealing soda in one-ounce ketchup containers, TMZ Sports.com reported.
TMZ Sports obtained audio of an assistant manager at a Burger King restaurant near the Florida campus making a call to police on July 21, 2013, alleging that Winston and three other men began to fill up the ketchup cups with soda - shots of soda, if you will - and drank them without paying for them. The part about
The manager explained to the police non-emergency operator that what Winston was doing was - stealing - was a crime, but "he said he didn't care."
Jameis Winston lying when he said he forgot to pay for steamed crab legs and crawfish at store?
She added that he and three others were "causing a big scene out front" of the store and were "fighting with me and refusing to leave."
She described the four men as black and 6-foot, and she was a 5-foot white girl, "so they're not going to listen to me."
TMZ reported that the case against Winston was dropped with the restaurant manager refused to press charges. At the time, and in and of itself, the incident portrays the pre-Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback as a jerk.
But in context of rape allegations later on against him (that were dropped but left the Tallahassee Police Department under investigation for the way it handled the case) that went public in December and his seafood-stealing episode some three weeks ago, a series of red flags have developed about Winston's character, much less his maturity.
Winston performed 20 hours of community service at a YMCA to have his shoplifting citation removed from his record as part of a plea to enter a first-offenders program and was suspended from the Seminoles baseball team for four days.
Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher later stated that Winston will serve no punishment from the football team for his shoplifting citation because the incident took place during baseball season.
