Warriors guard Klay Thompson bashed Clippers forward Blake Griffin as a flopper before the series started, then backed up his trash talk by leading the Warriors with 22 points while Griffin fouled out and dealt with foul-related problems all game.
Thompson wasn't particularly efficient, shooting just 7-of-20 from the field, but he was very efficient from beyond the arc. He nailed 4-of-7 shots from downtown and picked up the slack for star Stephen Curry who wasn't quite his normal self.
Griffin, meanwhile, said he was surprised by the way Game 1 was officiated and thinks Game 2 could be bruising. "I really didn't anticipate the game to be called like that both ways," Griffin said.
"The next game could be extremely physical. I just need to do a better job reading that situation. The first couple fouls you can kind of see how the referees are calling the game."
Without Andrew Bogut at the heart of the D, Griffin and DeAndre Jordan were expected to dominate the paint. That wasn't the case though, thanks in large part to David Lee, who thinks his offense translated to the other end.
"Me being aggressive on the offensive end helps us against Blake; it makes him work harder at both ends of the floor," Lee said. "My goal is to take away his easy baskets, his dunks and his fast-break buckets because that gets him ignited and that gets them ignited."
