Brock Lesnar defied what most wrestling fans --and gamblers --believed would happen at WrestleMania XXX Sunday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans by beating The Undertaker, and now the speculation shifts to whether or not 'Taker will retire after suffering a concussion at WrestleMania and falling to 21-1 at the company's marquee event. There have also been rumors that the Undertaker wasn't supposed to lose.
WrestleMania XXX review: Reflecting on a historic night in WWE history
Multiple reports on Monday indicated that the betting odds that heavily favored The Undertaker heading into the event started to shift as the event started leading many people to believe there may have been some collusion with gambling sites.
That reportedly is not the case as Wrestlingheadlines.com reported Monday that only four-to-six people in the WWE actually knew that 'Taker was going to lose.
Brock Lesnar to face Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2014?
Since the WWE wanted it to be a shock, they kept the plans for the match under wraps with only a handful of people knowing the finish. 'Taker had said in 2010 that he always wanted to lose to Lesnar to end The Streak and it apparently came to fruition Sunday night.
It was rumored that 'Taker would appear on RAW after a fan took a video of him and girlfriend Michelle McCool leaving a New Orleans hotel on Monday emerged, but he didn't appear:
There was even speculation backstage at the event amongst the talents about The Undertaker and Lesnar botching the finish as many thought 'Taker was supposed to kick out of the third F-5. While that was the consensus and even led to rumors of Lesnar changing the finish on the fly and doing a shoot on 'Taker, the match went exactly as planned.
What wasn't planned, however, was a concussion that The Undertaker received as reports of him going to the hospital with a head injury are true and there have even been reports that Vince McMahon missed the WrestleMania XXX main event and Daniel Bryan's big WWE World Heavyweight Championship win to ride with The Undertaker in an ambulance.
WWE.com then confirmed the injury, saying that The Undertaker was kept in the hospital overnight.
Now, the speculation turns to whether or not The Undertaker will retire after losing The Streak and suffering the concussion. Many people have believed that 'Taker would be facing Sting at WrestleMania 31 in California next year, however 'Taker's future with the company remains a mystery.
Wrestlingheadlines.com reported that sources backstage indicated that Undertaker was behind-the-scenes at Monday's RAW, but he didn't appear on the show to address the crowd or the loss of The Streak. Some people speculated the Dead Man may announce his retirement but that was not the case and it remains a mystery as to what his future holds.
It's unknown what will happen with The Undertaker, but WrestleMania XXX went exactly as planned and with The Streak over, it remains to be seen what the phenom opts to do next.
