Aaron Hernandez's cousin is set to face trial in August on contempt charges related to the first-degree murder charges the former NFL star faces in the killing of one-time associate Odin Lloyd.
Tanya Singleton, 38, is accused of refusing to testify before a grand jury probing evidence in the case eventually brought against the 24-year-old Hernandez.
According to the Boston Globe, Judge E. Susan Garsh set an Aug. 12 trial date for Singleton, who also faces an accessory charge in the case. Lloyd's bullet-riddled body was found less than a mile from Hernandez's North Attleborough mansion late last June.
Police have speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd based on his knowledge about his alleged involvement in other violent crimes. Several media outlets have previously reported Hernandez is also a suspect in an unsolved 2010 double-killing in downtown Boston.
Hernandez has pled not guilty in the Lloyd case and remains held without bail at the Bristol County Jail.
Singleton, meanwhile, remains free on bail and is being treated for breast cancer, with The Globe reporting she has made four emergency visits to the hospital in recent weeks after adverse reactions to chemotherapy.
