While neither team has any seed locked up for the Big Dance, both sides have a lot to gain from winning this game. "I never answer anything about seeds," head coach Bo Ryan said. "Really, I've never answered any of those questions because I really wouldn't know what to say."
The two teams met once this year in a close affair, with Wisconsin taking it 60-58. Statistically, the two teams look like mirror images of one another; the Spartans score 75.9 points per game, while giving up 65.3. The Badgers score 75.3 points a game and surrender 64.0.
Michigan State entered the year with expectations of being a Top 5 team all year, but haven't had the whole squad healthy for the majority of the season. "Let's not kid ourselves," head coach Tom Izzo said. "We are going to be a work in progress every game we play. Are we making progress? Yeah, we are. But tomorrow will be a good test to see where we are."
Point guard Gary Harris is the engine of the Spartans offense, leading the team with 17.3 points per game and hitting 35 percent of his shots from downtown. Wisconsin's leading scorer is Frank Kaminsky (13.1 ppg) who doubles as their leading rebounder (6.5 rpg).
