New York Knicks rumors [VIDEO]: Iman Shumpert's sprained knee hurting trade chances? Knicks eye Clippers PG Darren Collison at deadline

With the NBA trade deadline fast approaching at 3 p.m., the New York Knicks are looking to find a new point guard before the buzzer and have expressed interest in Darren Collison of the Los Angeles Clippers. However with an injury to possible trade chip Iman Shumpert, the team may be starting to scramble in the last few hours before the deadline.

According to ESPN, the Knicks were discussing a deal to land Collison from the Clippers, but the talks have been tabled until Thursday, just hours before the annual NBA trade deadline. The Knicks were reportedly expected to throw Shumpert in the deal, but the swingman suffered a sprained left knee Wednesday night in the team's 98-91 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Yahoo! Sports reported that the injury was a sprained MCL and cited league sources, which could throw a wrench in the Knicks' trade plans. ESPN reports that despite the injury to Shumpert, the Knicks were still hoping to converse with the Clippers about a possible trade for Collison on Thursday.

The report indicates that the Clippers were reluctant to take on the contract of Raymond Felton along with Shumpert and also weren't willing to part with the young Reggie Bullock. This led to the Knicks tweaking the trade to send Shumpert and Felton over to Los Angeles while Collison and Matt Barnes would come over to Madison Square Garden.

Prior to Shumpert's injury, the Clippers were reportedly losing interest in the deal with the Knicks due to the fact that the team would still have to take on Felton's contract. While the Knicks offered to take Barnes to try and will Los Angeles into a deal, the team is impressed with Shumpert's athleticism but was still hesitant to take on Felton's deal.

The Knicks have been linked to rumors involving point guards in the last few weeks, but weren't able to score deals that would land them Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics), Jeff Teague (Atlanta Hawks) or Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors).

The Knicks are also reportedly in trade talks with the Denver Nuggets that would see the Knicks send Beno Udrih to Denver in exchange for swingman Jordan Hamilton.

It remains to be seen if the Knicks will make any deals, but the clock is ticking quickly towards the deadline.
