Tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, the Colorado Avalanche (31-13-5, 67 points) and Florida Panthers (20-23-7, 47 points) skate against each other at the BB&T Center in Florida for the second and final meeting against each other this season. The game can be live streamed here. Colorado fans can hear all of the action on WKRZ 950 while Florida fans can do the same on 560 WQAM.
Colorado has won four of its last five while Florida is on a two-game winning streak. The first time these two teams met, the Panthers beat the Avalanche 4-1 in Colorado on Nov. 16.
The Avalanche will get Alex Tanguay back after he missed 36 games due to knee and hip injuries.
"We've gone through a rough patch with injuries and we've still managed to play some pretty good hockey and managed to pull out some wins," captain Gabriel Landeskog said via NHL.com. "Getting these guys back gives us even more offensive power and depth. They're certainly going to help us on the power play and to spread the scoring a little bit as well. They're pretty hungry and eager to get back."
Landeskog is second on the team with 36 points off of 14 goals and 22 assists while Matt Duchene leads the way with 41 points off of 17 markers and 24 helpers and Paul Stastny is third in scoring with 36 points by finding the back of the net 13 times and adding 23 assists for 36 points.
The Panthers are coming off of a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday and Ed Jovanowski returned from a career-threatening hip injury and notched his first goal since April 5, 2012 while adding an assist.
"He cares and wants to win, but he also wants to have fun, and that's been important to us too," defenseman Brian Campbell told the Miami Herald. "He loves being in this locker room. Time goes pretty fast and this can go away pretty quick. I think it's a good lesson for everyone. He loves what this is."
The Panthers will be without leading scorer Aleksander Barkov (81-6-24) due to a lower-body injury he suffered against the Sabres. With Barkov sidelined, Brad Boyes leads the team with 22 points by finding the twine 12 times and adding 10 assists. Jonathan Huberdeau has a three-game point streak and is in a four-way tie for third on the team with 21 points off of eight goals and 13 assists.
Semyon Varlamov will likely start for Colorado and is 24-9-5 with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage while Tim Thomas is the likely netminder for Florida and is 13-13-3 with a 2.59 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
Colorado looks to keep winning while Florida looks for its third straight triumph when the lights come up tonight at the BB&T Center in Florida.
