There was a lot of positive chatter on social media about the end of Monday Night RAW this past week that saw Daniel Bryan break free from the Wyatt Family by beating up Bray Wyatt in a locked steel cage, but reports indicate there was some bad news coming out of the segment as Bryan reportedly suffered a concussion at the show.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Daniel Bryan suffered a concussion on RAW during the main event steel cage match that pitted him with Wyatt against The Usos and he was kept off of WWE's SmackDown tapings on Tuesday night due to the injury. Wyatt appeared at the event and cut a promo on Bryan, but Bryan himself didn't appear.
The report indicates that a WWE spokesperson confirmed the rumors and said that Bryan did indeed suffer a concussion on the main event of RAW and it was unknown how long he will be sidelined for.
WWE has yet to acknowledge the injury on their website, but it is believed to be serious. Wreslingheadlines.com reports that word going around backstage at the SmackDown tapings on Tuesday was that Bryan didn't remember much of what happened during the actual steel cage match, which is a bad sign that the ailment may be serious.
Bryan was rumored to take on Wyatt in a one-on-one match at the WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on Jan. 26 at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, but with Bryan possibly sidelined for the next couple of weeks that match is now in question.
Bryan is set to undergo testing this week and more will be revealed about the concussion and the severity of the injury, but for now the only thing that has been confirmed is the diagnosis of a concussion for Bryan.
Bryan seemed excited after RAW taking to Twitter on Tuesday to comment on the support for the closing segment:
I sit humbled and in awe of peoples reaction to last night. I can’t bring down the machine on my own, but we can do it together #YesMovement
— Daniel Bryan (@WWEDanielBryan) January 14, 2014
It remains to be seen what the diagnosis of Bryan will be going forward but the WWE will hope it's not too serious for Bryan's health and due to the fact that WrestleMania season is here.
