Maybe, Florida State was just trying to make a sale to the folks in Auburn.
Thewareaglereader.com reported Tuesday that the Official Online Store of Florida State Seminoles Athletics posted a photo of its brand-new Seminoles national championship T-shirts after the team's 34-31 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Monday night in the BCS Championship Game.
The message on the front of the shirt is decked out in Florida State garnet and gold that reads: FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES 2013 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, with an emblem serving as the zero in "2013."
Beneath that are the words "UNDEFEATED, UNDENIABLE, UNCONQUERED" followed by the game's final score, where of course the suggestive sale to Auburn was in full view:
Tigers 34, Noles 31.
Thewareaglereader.com added that the website corrected its mistake about an hour after it was caught but didn't specify how long the T-shirt with the wrong score had been on the webpage.
Gamedayr.com reported that the Florida State merchandising company, Fanatics, was to blame for the wrong image and added that the score was wrong well into Tuesday, before the photo was fixed with the correct score printed on the T-shirt.
Reports have yet to surface whether the T-shirts themselves had the wrong score, but it might've been worth a few bucks for Auburn fans to find out.
Extramustard.si.com reported that the latest T-shirt faux pas is just the latest with a blatant error on it. It shared a link to a blog (https://scottfowlerobs.blogspot.com/) depicting another error that took place last summer involving Nike and the Charlotte Panthers.
