Alex Rodriguez News [VIDEO]: Ruling On A-Rod's Biogenesis Hearing Coming Soon?

The decision on Alex Rodriguez's appeal against Major League Baseball over his 211-game suspension for his alleged connection to the Biogenesis clinic and performance enhancing drugs by arbitrator Frederic Horowitz has yet to be heard, but early 2014 was the speculated date that the decision would be finalized, leading many to believe that the results could be coming out soon.

ESPN reports that a decision over whether A-Rod's 211-game ban will be upheld, reduced or thrown out should come any day now as Horowitz originally set January as the timetable for when his decision would be made and shared.

The report also indicates that the MLB likely doesn't want the A-Rod decision to overshadow Cooperstown, so the league may wait until after the Hall of Fame class is announced on Wednesday to make the announcement, meaning that it could be known as soon as this coming Thursday what Rodriguez's fate is.

The report also indicates that A-Rod still intends to take the appeal to Federal Court if he receives a punishment of 100-150 games or more to try to get an injunction and a complete reversal of the decision. This means that if the announcement is made sometime in the coming weeks as expected, it likely won't end there if the decision doesn't fall Rodriguez's way.

A-Rod was suspended in August along with 13 other players for his connection to Anthony Bosch and the Biogenesis clinic and for breaking the league's rules on performance enhancing drugs. 12 players received and agreed to bans of 50 games while Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers accepted and agreed to a 65-game suspension. Rodriguez got the harshest penalty of 211 games and thus appealed the decision.

Rodriguez recovered from his hip injury in August of last year and since he was appealing the ban he was able to play. A-Rod appeared in 44 games for the New York Yankees last season and hit .244 with seven homers and 19 RBIs.

It remains to be seen what his future holds, but all indications point to this being far from over.
