Glen "Big Baby" Davis has just called his former coach Doc Rivers overrated. Davis had the chance to play for Rivers recently with the Los Angeles Clippers and the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics.
Appearing on "In The Zone with Chris Broussard" podcast, Glen "Big Baby" Davis threw a couple of jabs against his former coach. Apparently, Davis did not like a statement made by Doc Rivers in the Los Angeles Clippers vs Boston Celtics game that featured Paul Pierce's last game at the Boston Garden.
After the Clippers vs Celtics game that saw Pierce become emotional, Rivers reminded reporters that it is not his first time to see someone cry on the court before. Rivers was referring to the time when Davis became teary eyed after being berated by, then Boston Teammate, Kevin Garnett.
According to MassLive, though Doc's statement generated laughter, Davis did not appreciate his name being dragged into it. The player-coach relationship between Davis and Rivers did not end well as the former reportedly did not like how Rivers handled his departure from the Clippers.
According to Boston.com, Davis does not believe that Doc Rivers deserves the praises he is receiving from the league. This is despite the fact that the 31-year-old forward has spent most of his NBA playing time with Doc.
During the podcast, Davis called the Los Angeles Clippers head coach and president overrated. The former Celtics and Clippers power forward even questioned why Doc Rivers is being referred to as one of the best NBA coaches ever.
Davis continued with his Doc Rivers tirade by saying that all the credits must be given to the 2008 Celtics' big three; Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. He also credited Celtics' General Manager Danny Ainge for the championship win. Davis also said that Doc Rivers was lucky as hell to win the 2008 NBA title.
