Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET, the San Jose Sharks (11-2-5, 27 points) and the Vancouver Canucks (11-7-2, 24 points) faceoff live from the Rogers Arena in the fourth and final meeting this season. San Jose won the first two meetings between these two teams both by 4-1 margins while Vancouver defeated the Sharks 4-2 in San Jose in their most recent meeting on Nov. 7.
After reaching an NHL-best 22 points in October, November hasn't been kind as the Sharks snapped a five-game losing streak with an overtime victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday.
"We've kind of been having a lot of those types of games where we go into overtime, a shootout and we don't come out with the second point," said Brad Stuart, who scored the overtime game winner, according to NHL.com. "It's nice to get it. ... It'll be a good positive for us moving forward."
San Jose has been led by Joe Pavelski (six goals, 13 assists) and Joe Thornton (two goals, 17 assists) who each have 19 points while Patrick Marleau has nine goals and nine assists for 18 points and Logan Couture also has 18 points off of eight tallies and 10 helpers.
The Canucks enter a season-long homestand after going 1-2-1 on a four-game road trip with their only win coming against the Sharks.
"It's been a struggle," Canucks coach John Tortorella said after his top line combined for one goal and three assists on the four game trip, per NHL.com. "We know what they are as people. We know what they are as players. It's been a struggle the past two, three games here. They're going to bounce out of it and they're going to be the players that we know they are."
Despite the recent struggles, the top line of Henrik Sedin (3-17-20), Daniel Sedin (7-10-17) and Ryan Kesler (9-5-14) combined for 14 goals, 18 assists during a 10-game tear in mid-October and are the top-three scorers on the team.
In net, Vancouver has turned to Roberto Luongo in 16 of 21 games and he's posted a 9-5-2 record with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage while San Jose has gone with Antti Niemi in 16 of 19 games and he's boasted a 9-2-5 record with a 2.21 GAA and a .913 save percentage.
Two teams looking to get it going after some scoring lulls will go at it when the puck drops on the Sharks and the Canucks tonight in Vancouver.
