Tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET the surprising Minnesota Timberwolves (5-2), healthy through seven games, will take on the Los Angeles Clippers (4-3) at Staples Center in Western Conference action that can be live streamed here. T-Wolves fans can listen to the action on 1500 ESPN Twin Cities, while Clippers fans can hear the game on KFWB 980 AM.
The Clippers have one of the league's best offenses, but their defense has not been strong, and it contributed to dropping two of three games on a recent road trip. They took the last leg of the trio of games against Houston, but head coach Doc Rivers is expecting more complete efforts out of his team. He was also pleased with their defense in the 107-94 win over the Rockets.
"I kept telling them to hang in there," said Rivers. "We hung around and got it going and our defense won the game."
Chris Paul has began the season on a torrid pace, but Ricky Rubio has the Wolves offense humming along at an equally startling pace. The Wolves are averaging 106 points a night, and allowing just 99 points a game as opposed to 106 from the Clippers.
That porous L.A. defense is going to be tested against Kevin Love, who will enter play putting up team-highs of 26.9 points and 14.4 rebounds. They are also clearly comfortable in the Staples Center, having routed the Lakers 113-90 in their last game.
"Everybody was making shots," Rubio said. "We knew we'd lost the last 22 or something like that. It was a good game for us to end it." Rubio finished the game with 12 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds, making him the first player since LeBron James on Christmas of 2010 to record a triple double against the Lake Show.
