Regardless of her personal demons, Chyna was undoubtedly a trailblazer in sports entertainment and deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame.
During her life Chyna, whose real name is Joan Laurer, campaigned to get enshrined in the WWE's highest honor.
The company kept her out of the Hall, likely due to her adult film industry career conflicting with its PG message and because of her sordid past with Triple H, who left her for his current wife, Stephanie McMahon.
Though the WWE largely ignored Chyna for the last few years, they've taken notice of the groundswell of support for the "Ninth Wonder of the World" following her death. Stephanie McMahon was out in New York City on Thursday and confirmed that the company is working on getting Chyna into the Hall of Fame.
"I'm sure that we will see Chyna in the Hall of Fame at some point in the future," McMahon told TMZ Sports. "I'm not sure exactly what year that will be, but there's no denying her contributions to WWE."
After Chyna passed away in her bedroom last month, Triple H called her a "trailblazer" in the industry, while his wife referred to her as a "pioneer in our industry." Obviously it's a difficult situation to deal with for both of them, but they have been kind in honoring her legacy and the WWE even aired a tribute video in her honor.
Though it's a shame it took her death for a Hall of Fame induction to be considered, the honor was very important to her and even posthumously, it will relieve most of her fans.
Chyna did more than any other woman who ever set foot in a WWE ring, winning the Intercontinental Championship twice (and becoming the only female to ever hold the belt), winning the WWE Women's Championship and becoming the first woman to ever compete in the famed Royal Rumble Match.
She was also an original member of the infamous D-Generation X stable, alongside Shawn Michaels and Triple H. She certainly had a Hall of Fame-worthy career during the Attitude Era and was a trendsetter for women in the industry.
Due to her tumultuous history of drug use, her past issues with Triple H and her time making adult films, Chyna was largely snubbed by the WWE late in her life. One thing she made known, however, was that she wanted to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
"Regarding my relationship with the WWE and Hunter, those were the best days of my life," Chyna said in a video she posted last June. "Wonderful opportunities and I'm very grateful for those days, which is why I feel so passionate about being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame."
She also begged to "please have a meeting" with Triple H and Vince McMahon, stating her goal was to "make amends and bury the hatchet."
Unfortunately, the meeting never happened, but it seems the "Ninth Wonder of the World" will at least get her Hall of Fame wish ... someday.
