At 10:00 p.m. tonight, the struggling Ottawa Senators (1-2-2, 4 points) will travel to Phoenix in the hopes that the desert heat might get their offense sizzling against the Coyotes (4-2-0, 8 points). Phoenix is gunning for its fourth straight win tonight against the Sens, after dropping the first two games of their most recent road trip. "It was a morgue around here -- nobody was happy, everybody was miserable," said wing Rob Klinkhammer.

Since then, the offense has been humming along according to coach Dave Tippet. "We've stabilized our game, for sure. When you go on the road for five games, your backs are against the wall. Winning three out of five road games is going in the right direction. Hopefully we can go home and keep playing the right way."

The Coyotes are still averaging just 2.83 goals per game, but Ottawa's shaky defense may help them boost their numbers. In back-to-back games, the Senators allowed 50 shots to the Sharks, followed by a whopping 56 to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

Coach Paul MacLean addressed the astronomical shot totals following the Ducks debacle. "It is two nights in a row. You give up over 50 shots, you hang your goalie out right from the start of the game. We're not very good. We need to go back to square one and find something to hang our hat on. Right now the only thing we have is goaltenders, and we make them work too hard."

Offensively, the Senators have been challenged as well. Tonight the Coyotes No. 1 priority will be right winger Bobby Ryan, who leads Ottawa in points (5) and goals (3).
