UFC heavyweight Travis Browne is best known for being Ronda Rousey’s main squeeze, but he may have a new identity after UFC Fight Night in Boston on Sunday. Browne fought Matt Mitrione, and caused one of the most gruesome injuries in UFC history.
Browne defeated Mitrione by TKO on Sunday, and Mitrione left the octagon with a separated shoulder, a broken orbital bone, and one of the most hideous hematomas that the world has ever seen.
Dana White Worried About CM Punk's UFC Debut
The fight wasn’t without controversy; it was ruled that Browne cut Mitrione with a clean punch, but the referee was criticized for not properly handling multiple eye pokes from Browne during the fight.
“Again, it’s one of those things where in the cage, I was apologizing up and down to Matt because that’s not my game,” Browne said after the fight. “I’m not a dirty fighter, and even in the fight, I’m like, ‘Matt, I’m really sorry. I promise you I’m not trying to do that (on purpose).'”

Later that night Mitrione sent out a few tweets to update fans on his condition and thoughts. He indicated he didn’t think he’d have sustained his eye or shoulder injury if not for the pokes.
Broken orbital floor. This and the shoulder happened after the 2nd eye poke. I don't think they would've happened pic.twitter.com/wFn1NC3j5Y

Hard to blame him for being unhappy, but he did credit the UFC for “taking care” of him in the aftermath of the scary-looking injury.
With everything that happened tonight, I need to state that the @ufc has taken great care of me tonight. Thank you.
