Tonight at 8:00 p.m. the New York Islanders (2-0-1, 5 points) will travel to Chicago to take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks (1-1-1, 3 points) in NHL action that can be live streamed here. Islanders fans can listen to the radio broadcast on WRHU 88.7 FM, while Blackhawks fans may do the same on 720 WGN.
The Islanders are undefeated after surprising the NHL and reaching the postseason last year, even managing to push the heavily favored Pittsburgh Penguins to six games in the first round. They enter tonight's tilt coming off a 6-1 thrashing of the Phoenix Coyotes, although coach Jack Capuano isn't ready to do backflips.
"We got some bounces. Let's not kid ourselves," Capuano said. "The score didn't indicate the way the game was."
Still, the Islanders are playing impressive hockey, and being paced by one of the league's fastest players, Michael Grabner. He has two goals and four assists in three games. "We always have a lot of speed on our line, and that helps in the transition game," Grabner told the team's official website. "We've scored a few goals off the rush."
The Blackhawks steamrolled all in their path last season, but have found themselves in a slight rut to kick off 2013. They've given up some late scores that are frustrating them, according to Jonathan Toewes.
"Tonight, we got robbed of two points," Toews said Wednesday. "Last game, we got robbed of one point. ... We have to finish stronger regardless of the score. We got caught a few times tonight, and they scored two goals off it. We won't get frustrated, but definitely feel we have some work to do."
The Islanders have momentum, but will need it against the angry and determined champs. Isles goalie Evgeni Nabokov has struggled in his career vs. Chicago, going 1-2-3, and posting a 4.00 goals against average.
