Christine Michael is likely getting his shot to live up to his sky-high expectations. According to Dallas sports radio personality Bryan Broaddus, Michael has been receiving the bulk of the carries with the first-team in practice during Dallas’ bye week, and is in line to lead the Cowboys in carries.

Switching To Christine Michael Is Best For QB Matt Cassel
Michael, 24, is a second-round pick out of Texas A&M who spent his first two NFL seasons languishing behind Marshawn Lynch in Seattle. On the rare occasions when Lynch was not on the field, however, Michael was often passed over in favor of Robert Turbin. The Seahawks traded him this offseason for peanuts, casting doubt as to whether or not he’s anything more than a workout warrior.
Michael has just 54 career carries to his name for 259 yards. He scored 35 touchdowns at A&M (34 rushing TDs), but never rushed for more than 899 yards. Darren McFadden caught nine passes for 62 yards last week, seemingly stepping right into the role Lance Dunbar occupied before sustaining a severe knee injury.
Cowboys Hoping Dez Bryant Can Come Back Soon
If McFadden continues in that role, Michael’s rise will come at the expense of Joseph Randle, who has come close to fumbling in each of Dallas’ last two games because of ill-advised reaches across the goal line. He’s been pedestrian through the first five games, topping 65 yards just once. He exploded for three touchdowns in a loss to the Falcons in Week 3, but has only scored one other time.
