If Tom Brady doesn't plan on being at his Aug. 12 and Aug. 19 settlement conferences in person, it could be an unwise move.
Profootballtalk.nbcsports.com's Mike Florio spelled out in no uncertain terms how he feels about Brady's options on whether to attend his court case in Manhattan.
Tom Brady makes outlandish counteroffer to NFL over Deflategate punishment?
Based on a tweet by NFL.com's Albert Breer, discussing the fact that the settlement conference could be handled via a conference call, provided that the party requesting a conference call present a good reason, Florio had this advice for the New England Patriots quarterback.
On the 8/12 Brady settlement conference -- It's possible the sides could handle it via conf call. Would have to present good reason, apply.— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) August 3, 2015
"Do not attempt to participate in the August 12 or August 19 settlement conferences with Judge Richard M. Berman by phone," Florio wrote. "Don't do it. Don't even ask for it. Get your ass to Manhattan, and make it clear to Judge Berman's clerk that you're happy to get your ass to Manhattan, whenever the judge wants your ass (and the rest of you) there."

Brady obviously currently is participating in the New England Patriots training camp leading up to the NFL season opener next month - an opener in which he is currently banned from participating.
The NFL Players Association will act according to Brady's actions, according to another Breer tweet. If he shows up, the NFLPA will show up in person. If Brady attends by phone, so too will the NFLPA.
"The fact that it's the NFLPA following Brady's guidance and not the other way around is troubling," Florio wrote. "Lawyers need their clients to buy in, completely. Clients need to be ready to do whatever the lawyers tell them to do, without hesitation.
"In this case, the lawyers need to tell Brady to get his ass to Manhattan on August 12, and he needs to say, 'Whatever you need, I'll be there.'"
