Donovan McNabb Talks About RG3, Says Washington Redskins Quarterback Is Being "Brainwashed"

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has made it evident that he doesn't want to talk about Donovan McNabb. McNabb, on the other hand, has plenty of things to say about RG3, calling the signal caller "brainwashed."

"I honestly think that over there in Washington, he's getting brainwashed," McNabb, who played with Washington in 2010, said on his NBC Sports Radio show Tuesday, according to ESPN. "He's getting input from whoever it may be on, 'There's no reason to talk to him, it didn't work out here.'"

McNabb, who was hopeful to talk to Griffin this spring but was turned down by the second-year quarterback, was critical of the 23-year-old, saying he tried to do too much and shouldn't talk to the media during his injury when he's not on the field during workouts. Griffin discussed McNabb, 36, in a recent GQ article.

"I don't think Donovan is an idiot by any means. But right now, it's probably best that we don't talk," Griffin told GQ.

Griffin, who strained his lateral collateral ligament in a Week 14 game against the Baltimore Ravens but was able to lead Washington to a victory over the Eagles in Week 16 and played in the team's wildcard playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks before re-injuring his knee, underwent offseason surgery to repair his LCL and anterior cruciate ligament and is looking to return for the start of this season.

Still, McNabb insists he shouldn't discuss things with the media until he's healthy.

McNabb's time with the Redskins in 2010 was mostly rocky. Head coach Mike Shanahan questioned McNabb's work ethic and even benched him in a loss against Detroit due to questioning the quarterback's "cardiovascular endurance." McNabb had signed a contract extension with the Redskins, but didn't stay in D.C. after that season.

These days, he's had plenty to say about the Redskins latest quarterback.

"I hope the best for the young man, but the direction he's going in is really a direction he does not want to do," McNabb said according to ESPN. "He does not want to go there with me, especially when I got the last word. I'm just trying to help him."

Griffin, who McNabb is dying to get a hold of but can't, doesn't seem to want the help.

"Clearly the young generation, they think they have all the answers," McNabb said according to ESPN

Griffin, in his first NFL season, went 258-for-393 for 3,200 passing yards with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions and also rushed for 815 yards in 120 attempts for seven touchdowns.

Despite a solid year for Griffin, McNabb still thinks he needs some help.

"He's going through a little turmoil right now, trying to make it out on the field, and it's unfortunate. But that's where we're at right now as far as these young quarterbacks who think they have all the answers. Until things start to fall apart and come down trembling on you, then you want some help. But it's a shame," McNabb said per ESPN.
