Brandon Carr, Cowboys Cornerback Sees Birth Of His Son On FaceTime, Couldn't Make It Back To Dallas

When Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr couldn't make it back to Dallas in time for his son's birth, he had to get innovative.

Carr, who despite his best efforts couldn't get to Dallas from Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif. to be with his wife, resorted to Iphone technology to witness his son Austin's birth on Monday. Carr watched his son's birth on FaceTime, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Carr, who also has a daughter, was flying back to California with his Cowboys teammates Sunday night from Canton, Ohio after the team defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-20 in the 2013 Hall of Fame Game, when he received word that his fiancé was in labor. Carr, 27, then headed back to LAX after learning of the news, but couldn't make it back in time for the birth and instead opted to watch the event unfold on FaceTime.

"I saw everything I needed to see," Carr said according to Sports Illustrated. "I saw it all. Technology is wonderful these days. Sometimes you can't control what's going to happen. You've just got to go with the flow. I made the most of it."

Carr, eventually got to Texas and spent some time with his new son, but didn't get much sleep after the whole ordeal, and said "it was a blessed feeling" that he was able to see his son's birth via phone when he returned to Cowboys camp on Thursday.

"It was a good feeling to be there and actually see your first son," Carr told the Star-Telegram. "I'm still trying to gather my thoughts and bring it all in. The last two days have been good."

Carr is expected to play Friday night when the Cowboys take on the Oakland Raiders in a preseason game, and is excited to learn the defensive schemes under new coordinator Monte Kiffin.

"I'm ready to get it on," Carr said per the Star-Telegram. "I'm pretty fresh and ready to get out there and run around and get some action finally and get ready for the season."

Carr is looking to help the Cowboys get to the playoffs for the first time since 2009, and improve on an 8-8 record and third place finish in the NFC East from last season.

Last year, in his first season with the Cowboys, Carr mounted three interceptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
