New York Knicks Rumors: Emmanuel Mudiay, Justise Winslow Drawing Interest

The New York Knicks unexpectedly wound up with a pick outside of the Top 3 despite the second-worst record in the NBA this season, but the talent that will still be available may still excite disappointed fans. According to The New York Post, promising point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, who spent last season playing pro ball in China, is someone the Knicks are intrigued by.

Mudiay, 19, has NBA size, explosiveness, and penetration ability but he struggles from the outside according to several scouts. In today's game with the 3-pointer emphasized, that might drop his stock to the point where the Knicks will have the option to take him with No. 4 overall.

"You try to show competitiveness and what you can do,'' Mudiay said after working out for the Los Angeles Lakers. "You show what's your talent. If you're a shooter, you come in here and shoot. If you're athletic, you do some athletic stuff.

"I want to be a great shooter.  Watching Steph Curry, who wouldn't want to shoot like that? I think I can be a great player when it's all said and done. I'm just the type of player who loves to win and compete and whatever I have to do for the team to win.''

Another player who has piqued the Knicks' interest is perimeter stopper Justise Winslow, a Duke freshman who broke out during the NCAA Tournament with a string of brilliant defensive performances that also featured efficient offense.

Justise Winslow's Weaknesses According To Draft Express

The knock on Winslow coming into this draft was measuring a surprising 6'4 without sneakers at the Combine. As a small forward in college, many expected Winslow to be taller and longer. He now projects as a shooting guard in the NBA, which would be less valuable than a Draymond Green-type wing player that can serve as a stretch power forward in small lineups.
