The odds are stacked against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins as he prepares for his Fatal 4 Way match with Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton at Payback on May 17 in Baltimore, Md.
Chris Jericho Reveals WWE Return, Full Details
"The Architect" sat down with Michael Cole this week in a special interview and he spoke about his confidence heading into the bout despite the fact that he has only a 25 percent chance of walking out with his gold.
"It's certainly no secret that in a Fatal 4 Way Match the odds are stacked against the champion actually," Rollins said. "I'm kinda used to that and I think people seem to forget what I'm capable of, what I've done in the past. Mr. Money in the Bank. I almost put out Dean Ambrose forever. Almost put out Randy Orton forever. I cashed in my Money in the Bank contract, beat both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar in the same night in what was arguably the greatest moment in WrestleMania history. So what? The odds are stacked against me at Payback. Maybe I like it that way."
WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Fatal 4 Way Match Contract Signing
Rollins was put into this situation at the Royal Farms Arena in less than two weeks thanks to Kane, and Cole asked him if he had a personal vendetta against the Director of Operations.
"No, absolutely not," Rollins said. "And as far as Kane is concerned, look he might have the best of intentions for me. I get that, he's part of The Authority -- Director of Operations -- maybe he's a little misguided at times and that could be fueled by his jealousy of me. And I'm not taking Kane lightly. Look, he's one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time, but I can do things inside that ring that Kane only dreams of. And let's be honest, I'm a rising star and he's kinda dwindling at this point in his career. Kane may have some ideas about how to make a man out of me or what's the best for Seth Rollins, but the truth is there's only one person who knows what's best for Seth Rollins...and that's me."
Cole brought up the possibility of Kane affecting the outcome of the Fatal 4 Way Match and possibly costing Rollins the gold.
"Next question, please," Rollins said.
Lastly, Rollins touched on the contract signing for the match on Thursday's SmackDown as well as his plans to stand tall at Payback.
"There was a lot of volatility Monday night on RAW," he said. "But this is a completely different setting. When it comes to this contract signing Thursday at SmackDown, it's a contract singing. I'm the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. I don't conduct myself with a volatile nature in that setting. So if the three of them have some unfinished business based on what happened Monday, then they can work that out themselves. The bottom line is this, whatever happens on Thursday at this contract signing or in the coming weeks, when it comes to Payback, it's gonna end up like it always does. The Authority coming out on top and me leaving with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship."
