Chicago Bulls News: Mike Dunleavy Jr. Signed, 3-Point Free-Agent Specialist Gets 2-Year Deal for $6 Million

The Chicago Bulls have agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with free-agent shooting guard Mike Dunleavy, Jr., the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.

Dunleavy spent the last two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. The 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward averaged 10.8 points per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and 42.8 percent from 3-point range, according to NBA.com statistics.

According to the Sun-Times, Dunleavy's 3-point accuracy was eighth best in the league last season.

The 11-year veteran out of Duke is averaging 11.9 points per game for his NBA career, which includes stops at Golden State, Indiana and Milwaukee. He started all 82 games for the Pacers during the 2007-08 season but came off the bench for the Bucks.

Dunleavy shot 56.7 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from the 3-point line in four playoff games this past season for Milwaukee. He averaged 12.3 points per game in fewer than 23 minutes per game.

The Bulls are looking at Dunleavy as an upgrade over departed free agent Marco Belinelli, the Sun-Times reports. The 6-5, 195-pound native of Italy averaged 9.6 points per game and shot 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Belinelli came to the Bulls after playing two years in New Orleans. Belinelli started his NBA career as a member of the Golden State Warriors and then played one year for the Toronto Raptors.

The Bulls averaged just 93.7 points per game during the 2012-13 season, ranking 29th out of the NBA's 30 teams. They selected 6-7 Tony Snell out of New Mexico in the first round of the NBA draft. He shot 39 percent from the 3-point line as a senior for the Lobos, including 12-of-20 (60 percent) beyond the arc in the Mountain West Tournament.

Chicago also took Florida's 6-10 Erik Murphy, who led the Southeastern Conference in 3-point shooting at 45.4 percent last season, in the second round with the 49th pick overall.
