Andre Johnson Signs With Colts: Goal To Get Indy 'Over the Hump and Get a Ring' [VIDEO]

Andre Johnson's 80 catches were not good enough for the Houston Texans. Apparently, they're good enough for Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.

Johnson is hoping to reward their interest with a Super Bowl ring.

NFL.com reported that Johnson, the 12-year Houston Texans free-agent wide receiver, signed a three-year, $21 million deal on Wednesday to play for the star-studded Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts, who recently parted ways with star wide receiver Reggie Wayne, have added San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore, Philadelphia Eagles pass-rush specialist Trent Cole and St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Kendall Spencer to bolster quarterback Luck's hopes of bringing a Super Bowl championship back to Indianapolis.

In Johnson, the Colts are getting a player that has averaged 84.3 catches per season during his career with the Texans. But the Texans told him last week that they planned to cut his production in half, and he planned his way out of Houston.

Johnson told profootballtalk.com that Gore, his teammate at the University of Miami, was the mastermind behind his signing with the Colts.

"After I got released by the Texans, Frank called me," Johnson said to profootballtalk.com. "He called me right after it happened and was just like, 'What are you gonna do?' I'm like, 'Frank, I don't know. I just got released. I don't know.' I asked, him 'Who do you think has the best chance to win a Super Bowl?' And he was like, 'Indy.' And I was like, 'That's my same choice too so let's do it, let's go for it.' And they were able to get both of us here."

Profootballtalk.com reported that Luck represents the best quarterback that Johnson will have worked with, and he wants to see whether he can use it to win a Super Bowl.

"Me and Frank are here to try to help this organization get over the hump and get a ring," Johnson said.
