It appears as though WWE Diva AJ Lee is set to return to action just in time for the road to WrestleMania 31.
Countdown to WrestleMania 31: 3 Best Moments from WrestleMania VI
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Lee is backstage at the Prudential Center in her home state of New Jersey and will likely return on-screen for the first time since December on Monday Night RAW.
Per the report, the WWE is planning on teaming Lee up with Paige to take on WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella and her twin sister Brie Bella at WrestleMania 31 on March 29 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The setup for that match could come on the flagship program.
Latest Rumors and Preview For Monday Night RAW
It's an interesting time for the three-time Divas Champion to make her return as she had an interesting exchange on Twitter with Stephanie McMahon last week.
McMahon tweeted to thank Patty Arquette for fighting for women's rights and then Lee swooped in and took a dig at her on the social media platform in a very public manner.
Lee re-tweeted McMahon's comments and wrote, "And yet they receive a fraction of the wages & screen time of the majority of the male roster #UseYourVoice."
McMahon responded simply, "I appreciate your opinion #UseYourVoice," but was said to be livid behind the scenes.
Lee has been off of WWE television since the company wrote her off during TLC last December after Nikki Bella sprayed her in the eyes with hairspray following a successful defense of her Divas Championship.
Lee, who is married to former WWE Superstar CM Punk, took time off to heal her wounds, including a neck injury.
Punk, of course, walked out on the WWE in January 2014 and then bashed the company on his friend Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast in November.
Punk said during that interview that WWE's doctor Chris Amann misdiagnosed a lump on his back and tried to downplay a concussion he received.
The doctor has responded swiftly with a defamation lawsuit against Punk and Cabana for the comments made on the podcast, which likely has to put Lee in a weird spot.
Punk has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but Amann and the WWE posted a list of reasons why the "Best in the World's" claims were inaccurate, including stating that Punk never told Amann about the lump on his back.
Punk walked out on the WWE following the 2014 Royal Rumble event because he said he was frustrated with being "stifled creatively" and over the WWE asking him to work hurt on multiple occasions. While he was gone, Lee has stayed with the company.
The former WWE Champion also said he received his termination papers from the company on the same day he tied the knot with Lee. Lee took a hiatus from the WWE from April-June to move in with Punk in Chicago and the couple got married in June.
Lee then returned to the WWE and became a three-time Divas Champion upon her comeback, but has been sidelined since December after being written off.
In December, Punk announced that he has signed with UFC and his first fight is expected for later this year. He also said he'd never have a working relationship with the WWE again.
Lee was by Punk's side at UFC 181 when he made the announcement that he was joining the MMA promotion and there was said to be heat on her from the WWE for that and for her acceptance speech at the WWE Slammy Awards.
It appears Lee will return to the WWE, though one has to wonder how awkward it is following her Twitter exchange with McMahon and her affiliation with Punk.
