Sam Bradford Contract Update: Rams Give Quarterback Permission To Talk To Other Teams About Trade [VIDEO]

Sam Bradford will be the starting quarterback of the St. Louis Rams in 2015. Unless he isn't.

Bleacher Report published a tweet from CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora, saying the oft-injured Rams quarterback has the team's permission to seek a trade. At issue is Bradford's salary, which will be nearly $13 million next season.

Rams QB Sam Bradford helps mold coaching staff, but where does that leave Jeff Garcia?

The report comes one day after Rams coach Jeff Fisher said that Bradford had significant input in the selection of Frank Cignetti as offensive coordinator and that Cignetti would not have been promoted from quarterbacks coach without Bradford's consent.

Bradford is entering his sixth year in the NFL. He has missed all but seven games of the last two seasons because of a torn ACL in 2013, which he tore again last season.

Sam Bradford says the possibility of him taking a pay cut is up to his agent?

Rams general manager Les Snead says the fact that Bradford and his agent have the green light to talk to other teams is overblown.

The Rams obviously have the most invested in Bradford, and his health history would be a major sticking point with other clubs. According to Bleacher Report, the most likely scenario for Bradford in 2015 is a restructured deal with the Rams to give him one more shot at validating his overall No. 1 selection in 2010. Bradford was enjoying a career year in 2013 when he had thrown for 1,687 yards with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions in six-plus games before his season-ending knee injury. The NFL.com's Conor Orr, however, tweeted a comment Snead made to Bradford, whether it was last week or last season when it happen.

At this point, there seems to be no reason for Bradford to clear his head. The Rams believe there is some interest in Bradford among other teams in the league, and at the very least, he gives St. Louis an insurance policy.

But whether that means insurance at the quarterback position or insurance in a possible trade scenario remains to be seen.
