Adrien "The Problem" Broner, one of boxing's newest and loudest sensations, is set to make a drastic move up in weight to face natural welterweight and Showtime Boxing commentator Paulie Malignaggi on June 22nd at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Broner's always seeking out attention, and recently he pretended to peel off a layer of his own face on Youtube.
The 23-year-old Broner is a perfect 26-0 in his career with 22 knockouts, but he has never fought at welterweight before. He is moving up two divisions to face Malignaggi, the current WBA welterweight titleholder.
This particular stunt did not involve the 32-year-old Malignaggi, but the war of words between he and Broner has escalated through the roof. At a recent press conference, Broner and Malignaggi traded barbs about each other's looks and each was going to pound the other inside the ring.
Broner's antics got personal, however, when he insinuated he had a sexual encounter with an ex-girlfriend of Malignaggi's even ringing her up during the press conference and her on speakerphone.
Broner, speaking to the audience said:
"She was real depressed after our altercation. They sent threatening messages...they was threatening to do this and threatening to do that. She was just so depressed, she's crying...she gets to talking and she's like 'Well, he hit me.' And I'm like 'He hit you? What you mean?' She said 'Well, I was talking about why don't you ever knock nobody out?'...To make a long story short, they broke up. Paulie wasn't hitting it hard enough. And now she's with a heavy hitter."
Malignaggi surprisingly engaged in Broner's game, degrading her with comments about how women like her are perceived.
"There's girls that are closer to you and then there's girls us guys call weekend p*((y. Jessica was weekend p***y. That means Jessica can f**k anybody she wants and when I've got time on the weekends, I'll do what I want to do. And she loved it."
Malignaggi wasn't done, turning to Broner and saying, "Not only that, she loved getting hit when we slept together. Adrien, if you f****d her you know it."
