The National League West leading Arizona Diamondbacks (35-28) will travel to Los Angeles to face the NL West's current doormat, the Los Angeles Dodgers (27-35) in a series that could play a major role in whether the Dodgers contend this season. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m. and can be live streamed here. The Diamondbacks radio broadcast can be heard on AZ Sports 620, while the Dodgers can be heard on 570 Fox Sports LA.
The Dodgers have been sparked in a big way by rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, who is making Dodgers fans forget for a while that their top bat, Matt Kemp, is out for the foreseeable future with a bad hamstring. Kemp was set to return Friday from his injury, but suffered a setback and his timetable is now unknown.
"At this point I think we've hit a little bit of a snag because he felt a little something today still," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "The reason he came back was to let Doc check him out, get him on the field and try to extend him as far as he could and see where he's at. He's not quite there. Does that mean it's two days, three days or seven days? I don't know that answer, but we do know that he's not 100 percent. When we get that then we'll think about him going out and playing."
Shortstop Hanley Ramirez' seemingly never-ending injury issues are cropping up again as well, as his hamstring may land him on the disabled list alongside Kemp. Luckily for Los Angeles, though, Clayton Kershaw (5-4, 1.93 ERA) is on the hill. He will look to halt the Dodgers' two-game losing streak, and notch a big win over their top priority in terms of divisional opponents.
Kershaw will go up against the struggling Wade Miley (4-5, 4.92 ERA), who has not carried any momentum over from his excellent rookie season.
