Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans the Pelicans (3-3) will host the slumping Los Angeles Lakers (1-6) in a Western Conference matchup that can be live streamed by clicking this link. Lakers fans can hear the action on 710 ESPN, while Pelicans fans may do likewise on WWL 105.3.
The Lakers lost an exciting one to the Grizzlies their last time out, in which they cut a 17-point deficit to three before falling short. "I guess it just kind of sums up our season thus far," point guard Jeremy Lin said. "We did enough to learn and be there and didn't do enough to win."
Kobe Bryant made headlines for becoming the league's all-time leader in missed field goals, but that's a misleading mark-he also is one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history, and hoists up more shots than most.
This season is an example of that. Bryant leads the league with 26.7 points per game, but is shooting an inefficient 39 percent from the field on 24 shots.
His Lakers will be up against one of the most efficient players in the game today, rising star Anthony Davis. The former No. 1 pick most famous for his iconic unibrow has blossomed into a ferocious competitor on both ends of the floor. Davis has averaged 24.8 points, 13 rebounds and 2.2 assists, and shot 51 percent from the field. Defensively he's made his mark as well, recording 4.2 blocks and 2.5 steals a night.
After a loss to the Cavaliers on Monday LeBron James had high praise for Davis. "He's one of the elite players," James said. "It doesn't compare to anybody."
