Today at 12:00 p.m. PT the San Francisco Giants will take their tour of San Francisco to celebrate winning their third World Series in five years on Wednesday night in Kansas City. The Giants rode ace Madison Bumgarner in the World Series, with Game 7 serving as his signature moment. Live stream the celebration free by clicking this link.
After hurling a complete game shutout in Game 5, Bumgarner entered Game 7 in relief and threw five shutout innings that included four strikeouts, no walks, and just two hits.
In the entire World Series Bumgarner pitched three times; he struck out 17 batters, walked one, and gave up a total of nine hits in 21 innings of work en route to being named World Series MVP. "How it ended today pretty much summed up the Giants in the World Series," Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt said of Bumgarner's heroics. "That guy carried us. He flat-out carried us."
Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval should have a seat of honor as well for his sizable contributions at the plate. Sandoval hit .429 in the World Series, picking up 12 hits in 30 plate appearances. Of those 12 hits, four were of the extra-base variety, and he added four RBI.
In the entire postseason combined Sandoval slashed .366/.423/.465 and smacked seven doubles. He totaled 26 hits in 71 plate appearances.
The parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. PT, and begin moving from Market Street and Steuart Street, turn right onto McAllister, and eventually conclude with a ceremony at the Civic Center. More a million people are expected to attend.
