Novak Djokovic may just have received the ultimate adrenaline boost heading into the ATP World Tour Finals next month in London. Or the world's biggest distraction.
Tennis.com, based on reports from a Serbian media article and a tweet from women's tennis professional Ana Ivanovic, is reporting that Djokovic's wife Jelena Ristic has given birth to a baby boy.
Roger Federer's bid for No. 1 gains momentum with straight-sets rout of Novak Djokovic
Djokovic and Ristic, a longtime couple, announced Ristic was pregnant in April, and the two married in July, shortly after Djokovic's dramatic, five-set victory at Wimbledon over Roger Federer.
According to tennis.com, via novosti.rs:
"Mother and child are said to be feeling quite well after a delivery without complications. Djokovic's parents, Srdjan and Diana, apparently organized a 'modest' celebration at the restaurant Novak, named for their son, in New Belgrade, a municipality in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. Ristic's parents, Miomir and Vera, are thought to be with their daughter and the main men in her life in Nice, France, where she gave birth."
Marriage hurting Novak Djokovic's tennis career?
Ivanovic is the second source behind the news, having tweeted out congratulations to the happy couple.
Lots of warm congratulations to @JelenaRisticNDF and @DjokerNole for welcoming their first son! Wishing you all the very best! #happymoment

Djokovic has struggled a bit since his Wimbledon triumph, although he did win the China Open at the end of September. Federer blistered him in just more than an hour and a half in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters earlier this month.
Speculation rose that Djokovic's motivation to maintain his high level was being challenged because of the bliss in his personal life and its effect on his tennis.
Federer trails Djokovic by about 1,000 points in the race for No. 1 at the season-ending tournament next month. So he could come out on fire, ready to conquer the world in London and retain his hold as the world's best tennis player.
Or the continued distraction of his bursting personal life could keep his tennis career on the back burner a little bit longer.
