The gifts have been given, and the regular season has ended. Derek Jeter's career ended on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park in Boston with an RBI infield single. It wasn't as dramatic as his walk-off, opposite field single in his Yankee Stadium finale, but Fenway Park was a fitting place for "The Captain's" career to end as well.
Yankees fans may be disinterested in the 2014 MLB playoffs since the Yankees will not be a part of it for the second straight season. Instead, they can reflect on Jeter's career, and decide whether or not he was the greatest captain in franchise history.
