The Baltimore Ravens (1-1) put together a strong effort on Thursday Night Football vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers while playing under the cloud of Ray Rice's domestic violence fallout. This week, they will take on the Cleveland Browns (1-1), who upset the Saints in Week 2. Watch the game on CBS or live stream it by clicking this link. The Ravens appear to have the pieces in place to survive losing Rice--Bernard Pierce and Justin Forsett both ran effectively vs. the Steelers last Thursday, and have combined to rush for 251 yards.
"Both those guys played well, ran hard and protected the football," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. "The offensive line has played really well in front of them, too."
The offense clicked well on Thursday for Baltimore, and has been effective since quarterback Joe Flacco led a failed comeback attempt vs. the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
"(The offensive line) did a great job," Flacco told the team's official website. "Any time you can protect the quarterback the way they did and wear a team out and get those running yards late, it's a credit to those guys."
The Browns' progress has been more surprising than Baltimore's though. They found themselves as nearly 10-point underdogs heading into last week's matchup vs. New Orleans, but rode their own running game and late heroics by quarterback Brian Hoyer to victory.
Hoyer was 24-of-40 with 204 yards and a touchdown. He has completed 60 percent of his passes in each of his first two starts, and has yet to turn the ball over.
"It's great to get a win," Hoyer said. "The biggest thing for me is to win a game like that. We won one like that in my first start against Minnesota last year and you see the guys when you get back to the sideline really believing in you. That's the best feeling there is."
